Leon Wang Stop Child Abuse

Each year, over 1500 children die because of child abuse. Of those, 81% never lived to celebrate his fifth birthday. In the United States only, 872,000 children are abused yearly. Child abuse is a major problem and we need to do something about it. Child abuse can take many forms. Physical abuse is when a parent hits their children, this is also called “spanking”, this may take from in a kick or whack with a stick. Physical abuse usually happens with children under eight, because kids over eight can defend themselves. Emotional abuse can hurt as much as physical abuse; it can consist of shouting or yelling at a child. Emotional abuse can hurt a child’s insides very much. Child-abusing parents think that “Without spanking, my children could become spoiled”, this is not true; there are more-efficient ways of not “spoiling”. Not abusing doesn’t mean spoiling; children who are abused have mental scars for life, we should help enforce the Child Abuse Prevention Act by watching over children that show signs of abuse.

Not abusing does not mean spoiling; there are more efficient ways of not spoiling. The facts are that abusing children generates hatred that will most likely used back at the parents. "There are rewards for good behavior and a lack of rewards for behavior that isn't good," (Oren Riak, 30-year Crusade). Using this method, Children will then learn to behave well to get rewards. Also, parents shouldn’t be lazy and abuse children because it’s quick, “find a more skilled way to get their attention. If parents are looking for a one-sentence solution, they're going to be disappointed. Parenting is a major commitment, and there should be lessons, like a driver's education course before you can get behind the wheel. It should be as essential.” (Jordan Riak, 30-year Crusade).

Over 70% of abused children have mental scars when they grow up. These scars include that they beat up their own children, which passes on and on. “neglect or abuse that occurs at a young age initiates a domino effect on the development of the child that can lead to poor school performance, an increased need for special education services, juvenile delinquency and adult criminality, and in some cases, a risk of later abuse or abusive behavior towards others.” (Making cents of prevention). Most serial killers, murders, and rapists were abused when they were little. Just because they are lazy, parents are turning their children into “bad guys” in society and people are doing nothing about it.
